Where is Jacob Riis Park and why was it the longest winter of your adult life (mine was pretty long, too!).

Its out on the Rockaway Peninsula. My mother lives out there, a block off a beautiful stretch of public beach, so we're there a lot in the summer. 8)

Only about a 40 minute car ride away (barring terrible Flatbush Ave traffic, of course), just go over the Marine Pkwy Bridge at the very southern end of Flatbush and you're there. Or take the 2 train to Flatbush Junction, the end of the line, then take the Q35 bus over the bridge.

Though keep in mind, the beaches aren't technically opened (for swimming, anyway) until Memorial Day weekend. The water is too frigidly cold right about now anyway.

JAcob Riis Park is at the west end of the Rockaways. You can get there by car or the Q35 bus down Flatbush Ave.

For me, it was just one long cold winter that never seemed to end and I guess my eagerness for spring to arrive didn't help make the days any shorter.

Last summer we Brooklynians did a bike ride to Riis. From Prospect Park. We are SO hard core.

It was really pretty there...and the gay section- well, that was just incredible! Like a NYC gay club on the beach!

Flexi got a new TV and I was looking at Tiger Direct for a new laptop. But because my TV died this morning, now I'm looking for a new TV. Fucking hell.

Love love love my TV. Tiger Direct was pretty good...Price was right and no issues with the order
