  • emily - that link isn't working.

mods, will editing tags fix this?

i hope apollo finds his way home
  • I've already pm'd the OP -- either there's not enough info in that link, or it's not a photo hosted online (and therefore available here.)

GOOD LUCK with the kitty, and let us know how it goes!
  • I was SURE I'd found Emily's cat. He is a handsome young fellow, with yellow eyes and no tags, and so friendly that he followed me down the block three nights in a row. A passerby remarked that he had clearly adopted me. I vaguely remembered Emily's post here, double-checked it, double-checked the cat, and decided to bring him home and call her.

He got over his new-home anxiety remarkably quickly. He knows how to use the litterbox. He comes running when I open the fridge. And he CRAVES affection. (He is the sweetest cat I have EVER encountered, no exaggeration.) He had to have been someone's pet.

But he's not Emily's. The cat-lovers among us will be happy to know that she did find her cat safe and sound. But this means that I have company for which I was completely unprepared. What do I do? I've looked for lost cat listings and I didn't see any others fitting his description.

Do I wait a while? Do I adopt him? Most importantly, can I take him to a rescue agency and have them run the standard (subsidized) medical on him? I am willing to consider keeping him, and I can afford mundane expenses, but I was not anticipating putting money down for vaccinations and altering and testing and whatnot. I'd pay the adoption fee. But doing it all myself ... vets in the Slope are expensive! Thoughts?
  • Good news that Emily's cat was found!

As for your new companion - I would post signs and on Craigslist and I'd also bring him to the local vet and see if he has a microchip (Prospect Park Animal Clinic and other places will do this for free). Most animals who come out of shelters are chipped these days, but CACC does a poor job of matching the owner records to the animal. If you have no other animals and the cat looks healthy, there's not too much to worry about .....if you had other cats, you'd have to work about transmitting diseases such as FIV.

If the owner doesn't turn up, I think you've found a new friend :)

    please keep us posted.
