Yellow Powder? — Brooklynian

Yellow Powder?

gretchen
edited November -1 in Park Slope
I live in a garden apartment on sixth street, and this morning noticed there was a fine yellow powder covering the whole yard. At first I thought it was pollen, but there aren't nearly enough flowering trees nearby to account for it, and it's quite uniform throughout the yard. Has anyone else noticed this? Did the city do some kind of spraying?

  • Ha! Same here (on 16th St). We made the mistake of leaving our windows open today. It is indeed pollen... we have pin oak trees in front of our building and they are in full, yellow bloom. Pollen _everywhere_ in our apartment.
  • My bike was covered in pollen too......and allergies are killing me.....
  • Pollen! That's crazy! But also explains why I want to scratch my eyes out and keep sneezing and coughing.
  • Yeah..me too..bad allergy day. When it gets really bad I have this brain fog that goes along with all the other symptoms.
  • It ispollen, it blows around, there is a big park nearby, it happen EVERY single year... even since before there were two Uncle Louie G's...

Gud job cracking the case team.
  • wrong,
    thats the annual hipster-b-gone spraying.
the malathion trucks will be out soon as well.
  • There was a yellow water stain on my garden furniture. I'm relieved to find it was just pollen!
  • It's coming off the ginkgo trees. We have a ginkgo in front of our house and the front steps, railings, garbage cans and cars parked out front are coated in yellow powder. Can't wait for the rain to rinse things off.
  • ugh, pollen. no wonder my sinuses are in a tizzy.

for years i lived in suburbia surrounded by trees, no allergies. i move to the city and i develop allergies. to trees. and i live a block from the park. blah.
