Railroad means it's a straight shot through. You probably have to go through each room to get to the next (no separate entrances or hallways) so not great for shares depending on room order. I think this layout is most common in brownstones.

some Presidents lived in log cabins, some in railroad flats. -
Honestly the building could be worse. The builder recently constructed another building on 4th (btwn baltic and butler) that I've thought was very sterile and lifeless. The building on 4th and Warren, however, has more character (larger windows at least), has a nice feel inside (considering the construction isn't 100% complete).... hell, some balcony views are actually pretty sweet. The bedrooms are on the small side for me, but for a Manhattan transfer it's probably a breath of fresh air. There's a workout facility inside that wasn't complete when I saw it, but it looks like it could be nice. I'm curious as to what retail space will sit below it, hopefully it will add to the blossoming restaurants and shops 4th avenue is starting to see.

mark, if it's new construction and it's a "railroad" it could be more of a "floor-through". mine was a reno of an originally old railroad. now it's a floor-through with a warren of tiny rooms. (no pun intended)
