OLD PICS, Super 8, 8 mm OF CROWN HEIGHTS AND IT'S PEOPLE — Brooklynian

OLD PICS, Super 8, 8 mm OF CROWN HEIGHTS AND IT'S PEOPLE

Subject: OLD PICS, Super 8, 8 mm OF CROWN HEIGHTS AND IT'S PEOPLE

Hi,

I'm looking for old pics AND first and second person memories, stories and accounts of people who lived, worked an/or grew up in Crown Heights.

Crown Heights has changed sooooo much over the last century and I'm looking to document this change and people's stories and perspectives for a documentary project for my film class.

Did you or your relatives live in Crown Heights in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and/or early 70's? Do you have pictures, super 8, 8 mm film and/or memories and stories that you would like to share of your neighborhood as you remember it in a particular era?

Memories of Crown Heights in the times you lived there and the changes that you saw Crown heights go through?

If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] to discuss further.

  • Old-timers will think of the Brooklyn Dodgers and Ebbets Field. Research them and you will find many photos of the neighborhood in the 40s-50s.

  • I have a few of friends and family but they are not in the greatest shape lol
  • I really recommend talking to Stanley Jones (aka Jonesy), the older gent who sits out in front of the old grocery store on Franklin between Prospect and St. Marks selling hats and socks when the weather is nice. I stopped and listened to him for about 30 minutes the other day, and he was an absolute fountain of great stories about the neighborhood and its history (he bought the current place in 1963 and was over on Rodgers before that). He might have some cool old stuff or photos lying around, too.
