moving and need boxes

When I was moving a couple months ago I got all my boxes at once by grabbing them from the front of a grocery store on recycling day. They were clean, neatly folded and all bundled up making things easy peasy.

Also, check craigslist periodically. Last time we moved I gave away a couple of batches as I unpacked. I got most of mine from picking them up around the neighborhood. If you live near a health clinic (the dialysis place on Flatbush next to Blockbuster was my main source) they often have really sturdy boxes with hand holes. I just picked up a batch each day and got tons that way.
Find a store (liquor store, Save On, type places) near your place and go in and ask them when they put boxes out and you may even get them to call you when they have a big batch. -
if you have a park slope parent friend, have them post on there....

Sunday night recycling night. I picked up 50 or so Fresh Direct clean boxes that were going out for recycling within 2 Sundays

You might also try the Brooklyn Freecycle group. I've gotten -- and given away -- lots of moving boxes that way.

i moved in winter so the recycled boxes were always wet or dirty... i bought a lot of them from Staples and they were fairly affordable (and lasted through two more moves of my friends)

when i moved last summer i went to a few liquor stores - wine and beer boxes are perfect for books and other heavier things. they were always neatly bundled and had never been sitting outside (try going the day before recycling).
good luck with the move! -
thanks guys..I wound up going to the dialysis place and scored HUGE with some great boxes....
