Dog Walker?

I'm not convinced ANY of the dog walking services are reliable... yeah, they come and give your pooch and opportunity to piss and shit, but that's about it. I actually spied on my dog walker (actually twice... first one, then after I fired the first, the next one...)
Basically, the 45 min walk entailed being brought downstairs. And *sloooowly* walked for about 2 blocks while the walker texted on her phone the whole time... checking the time along the way... then back upstairs. 45 minutes, and my dog pissed and walk about an 1/8 mile. Ridiculous.
I'd like to say this was the scenario for only the first dog walker... but that was basically what happened with the 2nd service too.
Herrumph. I'm paying A LOT for a piss. -
You need to be more specific about your location. Most of the local dog walkers confine themselves to a fairly specific area of the neighborhood for maximum efficiency.

Care to share who either of these walkers were?

There are plenty of weird ones that I wouldn't want having a key to my house but there are good ones.
I really liked Susie (google Susie's Pet Care) when we lived in her mostly ProHi range. She was very professional and when I saw her out with other dogs I never saw her on the phone or with headphones on (a huge no in my book). Plus, when we would run into her, my dog's response to her made it seem like he was obviously happy with the situation.
I now live really close to a fenced dog run and I think a lot of walkers, my current one included, around here (center slope) just take dogs there. When he's in the mood for that, it's fine for my dog, but sometimes I'd rather he just get a walk for the time he's out but it at least gives him a chance to pee/poop and socialize. I have the walker b/c of two mangled ankles so I'm home and know how long he's gone, and it's always at least the half hour I'm paying for.
If your dog is really social there are at least two walkers around here that I would recommend (though I don't have contact info, others might): Linda and Gunny (sp?). They have vans and pick up a bunch of dogs, which they manage well, and take them to fenced dog runs or Propsect Park off-leash depending on the time of day. The dogs with them get a decent amount of walking and play time. I see Linda in PP a lot with groups of dogs and she walks them for what I think is a good distance.
The Fido website has some walkers listed so you can check there, as well. -
my dog walker is really good - she takes one dog at a time and actually LIKES dogs.
my little guy seems to really like her: [email protected]
i am not exactly sure where she travels to, but it's worth a shot. -
My dog walker came highly recommended from a couple of people on this message board last year, so I called her and she's been my walker since then and I'm very happy. Great service, she really cares about the doggies. Her name is Cheryl and the email is [email protected]. (the one dog walks is because she only walks one dog at a time, unless there are two dogs in the household) Anyway, I think she does a few neighborhoods around the Slope, but check her out. Very reliable. Good luck!

I also give Cheryl at [email protected] an A-plus. She's the best. She leaves little notes about what your dog did on the walk, whether he socialized with others, etc. My dog loves her.
