What is the REAL Fort Greene? How do we define "community"? What are the untold stories of our neighborhood? Come to the Irondale Center and have your voices heard and help to create A Peoples History of Fort Greene.
May 27, 28 29 & 30 Irondale will present a work in progress of A Peoples History of Fort Greene in which Fort Greene community members will have a chance to share their own opinions, stories, and memories about life in Fort Greene and will have the opportunity to help Irondale sculpt and create this ongoing, community based project.
Throughout their first season in the Irondale Center, the Irondale Ensemble have been gathering interviews and holding discussions with community members in the Fort Greene area to create an original play based on the rich past and ever-changing present of Irondale's new neighborhood. As they continue to collect information they invite the community to come and view the work in progress. This project will culminate in 2010 when Irondale plans to produce a fully-mounted production in which members of Irondale's permanent company will work alongside area residents to present a special one-of-a-kind performance.
