I'm all for it too and I know a band if you want to do live music.

Well, a live band is nice, but you've got to get a Lot of people. The New York Swing Dance Society gets hundreds for thier dances and has a hard time affording bands.


I know a couple of DJs that do a lot of the Swing/Ballroom/social dances so I think that is a more likely place to start

Understandable. I would do a few nights, see how it does and then revisit the idea of a band. They are local (half live in Brooklyn - the other in Manhattan) and might be willing to play cheaply, but I of course can't speak on their behalf either.

Also once you do decide on a venue/night/etc. . .join up the NYC Swing Dancing meetup and post on there. I'm sure plenty of people will want to come out, especially if they live locally.
