Trying to find some good people to fill our building. — Brooklynian

Trying to find some good people to fill our building.

Afternoon everyone!

So my roommates and I have been living in a great brownstone/rowhouse on Eastern Parkway for a couple years now. We've put a lot of effort into the place (although, it is a rental). There is a pretty great unit for rent above ours which has been on the market now for about a year. Here's the deal... the landlord is pretty much non-existant and the property manager is also the realtor... both jobs they do pretty poorly. My roommates and I have managed quite well doing most of the maintenance work ourselves but when projects get too big, we are usually able to track the Property Manager down.

Here's the deal. We were thinking of stepping in and just doing the realtor legwork ourselves. That way, maybe we can find a group of people who are like-minded when it comes to gardening, BBQ's, all that good stuff. We're all mid to late 20's professionals who appreciate a clean, quiet house to come home to. Not against weekend parties or anything, just keep it clean and professional. Our neighbors on both sides are families with young kids, awfully nice and the neighborhood itself is really great too.

The scoop on the unit for rent:
3 bedrooms, 2 full baths. Master bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower and the hall bathroom has a tub. The third bedroom is small, about 10' x 12' and has a great operable skylight. The living room is really ample and the kitchen is small, but opens into the living room so it feels pretty big. Kitchen is probably going to need new appliances, but the property manager might take care of that. We were able to get them on our own and took the cost off of rent. There is a clean area for storage in the basement and some nice space in the front yard for locking up bikes. Also, there is a small and unkempt backyard. Thats the next project on the list... BBQ's real soon! We're within eyeshot of the Franklin Ave. 2/3/4/5 and Shuttle trains. A couple blocks from Prospect Park, Bklyn. Museum, all that good stuff. Rent is $2100 and the only utility you pay for is electricity. Realtor will probably ask for first and last months rent, that's what we had to do at least.

Get in touch if you're interested... hoping to find some quality people who appreciate a peaceful home.
