dog-sitting exchange

edited November -1 in Brooklyn Pets

I need help. Need to leave town from july 4-15th and i dont want to board my dog. was recently laid-off so not really in a position to pay thousands of dollars for dog-sitter, but want to make sure she's in the right hands. she's great with other dogs.

i'd be more than happy to dog-sit for your dog in exchange.

suggestions welcome. thanks.

  • The Fido Brooklyn website has a section about this kind of stuff that might be worth checking out.

Also, I know several folks who have found folks to do this with at off-leash hours in the parks. It's usually folks whose dogs get along really well out there so they already know it should go well.

And there was someone else posting here about doing weekends to spend time with a dog. Maybe you should meet and see what you think and maybe that person could split the time with someone else.
  • thanks!!
  • I may be into this but I have a small apt- how big is your dog/what breed? What are his exercise needs (meaning does he usually jog for 3 miles or do a 20min walk outside in the mornings?)
  • she's a medium sized dog (pit/greyhound mix and extremely gentle--with kids and dogs) and she needs a good amt of exercise. to be clear, I'M not doing a whole lot of running with her but i do take her to the park in the morning so she can chase her ball for 30-40 min. apart from that, she gets two normal walks (10-15 min) and that's about it. my apt isn't big either. let me know what you think...and thanks for your reply, regardless
