Shots early Monday morning

Anybody else hear them at about 12:45 am? There was a flurry of about 12 shots, then silence, then a single shot from a very large caliber gun, then silence, then 5 more shots from a caliber different from the other two. Sounded like they came from the Nostrand and Sterling area. I know it's close to the 4th, but these really didn't sound like fireworks.

Yeeesh. That's a lot of gunfire. I live relatively close and was awake then but heard nothing....

I heard them from Park and NY. I didn't think they were gun shots because the first flurry wasn't discrete shots, but a simultaneous volley. It sounded like a bunch of fireworks going off at once.

That said, I apparently have no idea what gun shots sound like because (as I posted recently), I've never heard them around here.

Late last night they (the noise boys) were setting off fireworks. nothing pretty, just big booms and bangs. (wow how cool!!! sarcasm intended)this was not gun fire. I heard it at st.marks & nostrand.

I heard them as well at Park and Nostrand. My clock said 12:32 AM. The curious thing is that immediately after each shot, I heard the leaves rustle in the trees.
What would cause that to happen, unless it was a gun shot fired into the trees? Must have been very close by to have heard the leaves rustle, in my opinion.
