Decent Dentists

I'm past due and could use some recommendations. I've been to Mitchell Stearn on Fulton Ave. (an experience that might be described as "interesting") and a place on Plaza Street where they made me do at least 16 bite wings (!) for a single x-ray series. I'm hoping somebody out there is happy with their dentist.

I've been seeing him for a number of years. Great dentist and great guy. If you are a Met's fan, don't tell him...extra novacaine shots for you :P Go Yanks!

There are two dentists offices by th #2 grand army stop. One, is awful, I went there and after a couple of years had cavities under all the fillings the jerk put in. Its on the park slope side of flatbush. This was right after 9/11 and he also made some really creepy jokes about it.

The one across the street is good, its Dr. Belinky and they are a husband and wife duo.

PLease report back on your experience - I need to find a dentist myself. Right now I am having major work done at NYU Dental School (since I can't afford most dentists for root canals, etc.) and I need one for regular checkups when Im done.

Dr. Emil Sabbione on Plaza St - and he directed me to the nicest root canal guy in the clock tower building who made what could have been wildly unpleasant into a totally bearable situation.

I am looking for a pediatric dentist for my daughter, age 3. Any recommendation in any of the Dailyheights neighborhoods, preferably someone who accepts insurance (Horizon)?

I've only walked past this place. I don't have kids, so I can't say anything else about it. I know there is also a husband/wife orthodontic practice somewhere in the Slope. They may be worth talking to as well (in terms of referrals). But I can't recall their names :? .

I actually have an appointment with this dentist that I plan to cancel. They accept no insurance. When I asked the receptionist why, she said the dentist "doesn't want to be bothered with it." She suggested I could call my dental plan and try to get reimbursed by submitting the bill, etc...

But upon reflection, I don't want to be bothered with it either. And the more I think about it, the more I resent the whole idea, so I think I'd better find someone else.

Hey SG - My son (age 9) goes to Dr. Azrak and I really, really like him. His staff is very accomodating and nice, and Dr. Azrak has a wonderful way with children.

I took this referral and saw Dr. DiMatteo for a cleaning and I concur - she's great! Very friendly and professional. She took my insurance with no hassle. Her office has moved though - she's now on Court St. and her number is 718-625-4441.

I went to Dr. Teichman on 7th ave in Park Slope for a checkup/cleaning. No complaints, and I would recommend them.
