The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who — Brooklynian

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who

You're on a desert island and you only get to have one of them, their whole collection mind you, but only one.

Which would you choose?

(I know this is stupid but I'm bored and stupid)

  • I like the Who the best out of all of them, but I'd take the Beatles because they have the most diverse catalog IMO, although the Stones put out more records.
Although I'd probably take Zeppelin or Sabbath given the option.
  • Shit, I thought I added a choice for The Who.
  • Beatles, for sure. They never put out a bad album, the Stones however have a bunch of duds.
  • The Beatles or The Who, not sure. Probably The Beatles.
  • This is with the original members, right? Not just currently surviving members...
  • If you had The Doors on there it would be them hands down but I will take The Who instead

    yeah original albums

and I was just sticking to original British invasion bands, no American or second wave bands (such as Zep or black sabbath)
  • Having seen both The Who and The Stones in concert, I'd take the Stones.....but it would be a close race with the Beatles. I just think that you could rock out or dance to some stones stuff more easily, yet there are some ballads and slower things too
  • I'd take The Clash over any of them. Not really the same thing, I know, but just sayin'.
  • Bowie. but given the choices presented, beatles.
  • OOO Zeppelin, Hendrix or Elvis............. but I guess the Stones here. I think some of the early Beatles poppy happy go lucky crap would start to piss me off if I was stuck on an island.
  • Definitely w/ Vidro on Bowie. However, I'll go w/ the Stones given the options above.

saw them in concert....with The Who....awesome

Saw Bowie in concert a few years ago at MSG - he puts on an AWESOME show and can really sing, not like these little pop stars today (yes, I sound old...but how often do you hear people sing without lip syncing, backing vocals, etc. today?)
  • The Jonas Brothers can sing, and they rock too!

:pale: WTF?? I hope you are being sarcastic. :puker:
  • yes, where is the sarcastic button?
  • Whew, thank god  sometimes print doesn't do good humor justice :-)

    [sarcasm]You're right. It's not like it's obvious at all.[/sarcasm]

You're old. :D Was that at Shea? I saw them at Bonds in Times Square when they did something like 17 shows in a row. One of the best live shows ever.
  • Yep. Shea. It was probably 1983 or so. I was in 10th grade. I'm old :-)

The Who, The Clash and David Johannsen. I was the third person into Shea. The crowd got crazy and I broke a rib when I got crushed against the stage. I still had a great time :-)
  • The Stones hands down (esp. since Led Zep was not an option). Last time I saw them was in the Meadowlands in early 90s can't remember the tour - (right after the Steel Wheels tour which I saw at Shea).

Bored as well this AM with all the rain - going to start mushroom farming - bumper crop on my little patch of lawn.

Got any ideas on some distractions/amusements? Thought about re-arranging the CDs, getting together the LPs for sale . . . too lazy.

Man, you've broken a few bones in your time, huh? When does the cast come off?
  • 4-5 more weeks. I've only broken my foot/ankle (twice), a rib and a finger. I don't want to break anything else!
