Currently we are offering reduced rates to each of our summer programs please take $150 of each price and take advantage of our great recession special!

Irondale will run three fun-filled and affordable programs sculpted to let young people experience acting, improvisation and the creation of original works in a collaborative and supportive ensemble environment. No previous theater experience is required, just a willingness to learn, play and keep an open mind.

Registration is currently open and there are some great discount options available as well as need based financial aid possibilities. Irondale is also offering benefits for parents such as early drop-off and late pick-up options making this one of the most convenient summer programs available.

All programs will be led and taught by members of the Irondale Ensemble, a highly acclaimed acting company comprised of professional performers and educators. Irondale has established and extensive outreach and educational programs in public schools, jails, special education facilities, shelters, housing facilities and youth centers. They bring 25 years of teaching experience to the summer program and infinite amounts of enthusiasm and encouragement to inspire the next generation of great artists, performers and creators.

About the programs:

Improv
July 13 – July 17
$500

Through this playful form of learning young people build self-confidence, learn to listen and recognize how to interact well with others. Improvisation is also one of the most valuable tools when it comes to developing original theatrical works. Learning to be comfortable with improvising is a great way to enhance imagination, strengthen cognitive thought and it’s also great fun!

Acting
July 20 – July 24
$500

Members of the Irondale Ensemble share their professional training and years of experience as they take students through an educational journey that focuses on movement, voice, scene and monologue work. Students will also learn how to develop characters and the most effective ways to approach a script. This informative program will culminate in individual performances allowing students to showcase the expert abilities they have learnt.

Piecemakers
July 27 – August 7
$750

This intensive 2 week program is production driven. Students will develop, construct and present an hour long, original theater piece. The process of creating this unique work will engage imagination and encourage participants to learn about teamwork, problem solving and clear communication. Under the guidance of the Irondale Ensemble the students will carefully explore and craft their piece utilizing exercises and games that harness acting and storytelling skills. For two weeks students will experience the incredible feeling of being part of a working, creative ensemble!
