What do you want to know? I live on Greenpoint Ave., between Manhattan & McGuiness.
The area is ok, pretty safe. There are several supermarkets, laundrymats, etc. There are restaurants, but not a great variety. Lots of Thai & Polish. There are several bars on Franklin Ave.
Architecturally speaking, it's not beautiful.
The G train is fine at rush hour but can suck latenights/weekends.
Feel free to ask or PM me if you have specific questions. -
In that particular part of the neighborhood you probably have as much variety as you do anywhere in Greenpoint as far as restaurants and bars. Within a few blocks you have Papacito's, Pio Pio Rico, Coco68, Lamb and Jaffee, Acapulco, Ichiran, Triangolo -- off the top of my head... in addition to the scattering of Thai and Polish places. Habitat and a few other places that are primarily bars also offer decent meals.
And plenty of other bars both on Manhattan and Freeman that don't offer full menus or any food at all but provide plenty of variety in atmosphere, live music, etc. C-Town is close by for a supermarket, and The Garden for healthier/organic/veggie needs.
Overall it's a good section of Greenpoint with a good cross-section of people (from those who grew up in the homes they're still living in, to those who came as the local buzz was beginning, to those who've recently moved into the newest "luxury" apartments) and a pretty friendly neighborhood vibe. -
Thank you for the quick response!!

Pio Pio Rico puts crack in their green sauce. It's that tasty. I would just love an Indian restaurant or even a mid-Eastern or Greek restaurant.
Anella (sp?) recently opened on Franklin, and I thought it was very good. Paloma was also very good, but burned down on Election night.
Down near the park, Five Leaves is pretty good and Enid's is the classic hipster brunch place. -

A very opinionated view, and while I'm a regular reader and occasional commenter I disagree with her opinions more often than I agree.

Haven't checked Anella out yet. But that does remind me that I left out Italian at Divine Follie as one of the local options.
I agree both about missing Paloma and about that green sauce! -
Oh, yes, she is opinionated. No doubt about that.
Divine Follie is pretty good, great bread. Russ makes a nice pizza.
Frankly, I'm still reeling about Michael Jackson. -
