About Theater for A New Audience
Theatre for a New Audience is the only American theatre to be invited not once, but twice to bring its productions of Shakespeare to Britain's Royal Shakespeare Company. Founded in 1979 by Jeffrey Horowitz, the Theatre's mission is to vitalize and develop the performance and study of Shakespeare and classic drama. The Theatre also created and runs the largest arts-in-education programs to introduce Shakespeare in NYC Public Schools to students from the fifth through twelfth grades. Now, after 30 years of itinerancy, the Theatre is building its first permanent home in the BAM Cultural District in Downtown Brooklyn. Inspired by the Cottlesloe Theatre of Britain's Royal National and designed by Hugh Hardy, it will be the finest intimate classical stage in New York City. Please visit www.tfana.org/capital for more information.
