ON THE WATERFRONT (1954)

One of the greatest all-around films ever made, with excellent
acting, shooting, directing and writing! Young Marlon Brando is in
top form as Terry Malloy, a boxer turned longshoreman with a conflict
of conscience. A brilliant vision of ordinary people caught up in
the deadly business of the mobbed-up waterfront. Oscars for Brando,
Eva Marie Saint, director Elia Kazan, writer Budd Schulberg,
cinematographer Boris Kaufman and editor Gene Milford, also one for
Best Picture. With Karl Malden, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, Ed
Gwynne. Music by Leonard Bernstein. Shot on the Hoboken docks, but
closely resembling the culture and setting of Red Hook.
