Right Rides-they still exist, and this is why.

There was an assault on a woman last weekend, but I am not at liberty to discuss the details. In any case, as a reminder to all women--please, please, if you are drunk, do not leave a bar alone. You might feel safe in Park Slope, but you must act safely too. There is a great service for women and TG folks, keep their number in your pocket.

  • the problem with rightrides is that they only offer car service on saturday nights, and then it's only between midnight and 3 a.m. if you're out on a friday night, or during the week, they can't help you. but it's worth the cab fare to get home safely.
  • Au contraire, brokechick.

I am very happy to announce that RightRides will be offering free rides on Fridays too, starting July 10. Same time frame (midnight to 3 am). The Friday night service is a little bit smaller than Saturdays for neighborhoods, but I'm sure that will change. Here is a map of the neighborhoods served for Friday nights:

I have been a volunteer for RightRides for about 2 years now. I strongly encourage women to USE US. If there was demand coupled with enough volunteers, we could expand to more nights I'm sure. It's taken a while for RightRides to be as big as it is now. PLEASE spread the word to all your female and transgender/gender queer friends and encourage them to call the service. I can't tell you the number of times as a driver I've just sat parked with my navigator, wondering why there weren't more calls when I know there were women who could use the service.

The more demand there is (and we track the number of calls we get requesting pickups), the more RightRides can justify things like fundraising requests and expansion plans.

Thanks everyone. Here is their official website (hasn't been updated yet for Friday service, but it is offered):

And their dispatch number for Friday and Saturday nights:
