Carpenter w/ Hist. Preservation background available
Here's what I've got to offer:
- Interior finishes (i.e. moulding, painting, etc.)
- Minor plumbing or electrical assistance (i.e. installing fixtures, etc.)
- Minor framing, drywall or other like projects
- Backyard landscaping (i.e. plantings, pavers, edging, etc.)
I'm a long-time poster to Brooklynian, I grew up working for my father's restoration contracting business and I have a graduate degree in Historic Preservation Planning. Most of my father's business focused on 19th and early 20th century homes, but I've also done a fair amount of new construction over the years.
Rates are pretty negotiable, but prob in the $25/hour range depending on the project. I can handle small projects by myself or I'm happy to assist you when you need an extra set of hands who actually knows what he's doing. I'm fast, neat and do quality work, and I have my own basic hand tools.

So, Sterling2000 knows his stuff.
I had him over to look at some light fixtures, to see if they could be moved. He said he could move them, but honestly it would be more hassle and expense than it was worth. Instead, he suggested he clean them up, and he did a marvelous job.
His work was quick, tidy, and thorough. Check out the before and after pictures below.
I'd absolutely use him again.
Before: Chipped yellow paint over forest green paint over brass.
After: So shiny!

Subject: Great help, great work, nice guy
This guy did some work for me too. He helped me install two doors. Granted they were pre hung but we need to take out the old doors and frames (which were metal), increase the height and width of the opening, and retrofit to hardwood and ceramic flooring. Tough job but he was a pleasure to work with and absolutely reliable. Email me if you would like to see pics. -

Subject: Dishwasher install as prologue to kithen reno and demo
Brought my pal back for a dishwasher install. Result = Damn that was easy. irented a truck for $20 at homedepot where i bought the dishwasher. Took him over there and he helped me load and unload. I returned the truck so as to not incur additional costs. I also dumped my old dishwasher. in the mean time he had the new dishwasher dryfit and scoped. We had it done in about 2 hours. and no problems whatsoever.
He's coming back to help me with a demo of my kitchen and guidance on reno...timeline etc. Book him now before i take him for the rest of the summer.
After that bathrooms.....
