Aperitivo -Update

I tried Aperitivo for dinner last night. I tried to go to Dram bar but the service was atrocious, so we walked out.

All the glass doors were open at Aperitivo and it was a hot night so the open air seating was perfect. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I ask his recommendations and took his advice and went for the Saltimbocca Alla Romana: pork tender loin, prosciutto and sage. It was tender and delicious with an amazing sage butter and a side of sauteed spinach with golden garlic slivers. For 12.95 is was a decent deal.

Papi ordered the pork loin that came with around 5 different types of mushrooms in a white wine sorta sauce with a side roasted potatoes. The mushrooms were great and had a lot of flavor, but the pork was a little tough. The potatoes were good but nothing to brag about.

My brother in law had the steak frites and the steak was charred perfectly and tender inside.

All in all a good experience. Plus we all got a free tasting of their sherry. Don't get me wrong, it is not Al di la by any means and who knows if other menu items are any good. But the seating is great & service was great. Papi wouldn't order his dish again, but he said he'd try the steak if we went back.

  • Yep, my opinion of this place has improved too. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced (just beware that the specials can be marked up pretty high), the waiters are helpful, and one of the bartenders makes a great negroni, which make the manpanion happy. It's really close to our place, so I'm glad it's on the upswing, at least in my mind.
  • This place understands good service; the waiters, bartenders and managers really make you feel welcome. And the ambiance is great, too. I always found the food, though not bad, to be a weak link in the chain, so I'm glad to hear that it appears to have improved.
