gross food sludge dumped outside of al di la
Every morning on my walk to the train, I pass by Al Di La and every morning there is a large amount of food garbage on the sidewalk. It's pretty disgusting to see first thing in the morning, especially in the summer, when wearing flip-flops and also especially when the pigeons are nibbling on it. Anyone know the reason for this? I mean, it's not a compost pit... it's a busy sidewalk outside of a rather nice restaurant... I don't get it.

call them up and ask them

Flip flops?? OK, flipflops aside, dumping slime on the streets is gross. If you wanted that, you'd pay less to live on Canal Street.
Is the restaurant definitely dumping the mess? If so, one person calling the restaurant might not change anything. If other people notice this sludge monster, maybe we should all call.
Got any pix?
I had a similar problem with Ozzies. A few times months ago they threw out so much garbage out on the sidewalk, I could not fit on the sidewalk and had to walk in the street to get by the building. -
I'd be interested in what the restaurant has to say. It might not be them or they might not even know it's happening. Could be kitchen staff or garbage collectors or some other reason.
Of course, if it IS them, that's gross and not cool at all -
This morning the sidewalk was clear of food and looked freshly-cleaned...

Did you call?

No... I was actually going to monitor it for a week, and maybe take a photo like somebody suggested and then call or drop into the restaurant. I don't know if it is Al di la for sure, but it is right outside of their restaurant so that is my assumption - - maybe they saw this post and that's why the corner was spotless today!

This thread sucks

dropping in with pics is a good idea if it keeps happening. You should be able to figure out from their reaction if they know about it. that place has been there for a long time, and I never heard anything shady about them

The sidewalk was freshly cleaned by the rain last night.
I've noticed this problem, too, and usually walk on the other side of the street. I think its the worst in the mornings after garbage pickup. A few other restaurants have similar issues, but Al Di La is the stinkiest by far.
Howdy, Stranger!
