Olive Vine on 7th. I love their spinach pie.

I was wondering just this question the other night as Mr. Medusa & I ate at the delicious Abistro on Carlton and Myrtle in Fort Greene--the final bill of which was very much tempered by the BOYB-ness of it.
I couldn't come up with much other than Islands and the Indian places.
P.S. http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41696697/ for info about Abistro (with whom I have no connection). -
amorina was byob only until a couple weeks ago. now they have a very small wine selection but still allow you to bring your own -- even at fermented grapes prices, it's a better deal to run across the street and pick up a bottle.
when i was there last (2? weeks ago) they said they were planning to institute a corkage fee, but they hadn't yet, because they wanted to let their regulars get used to the change gradually. -

couple blocks up from Flatbush. -
also one on 7th and 15th, same place, same owners as far as I know.

I thought the Greek restaurant on 6th and St. Marks was BYOB but I have never been there. I don't know if they still have no liquor licence or not.
It was mentioned here before. -

We went a week ago and the corkage fee was in place. How much? 15! I was like ugh! and I put the bottle away. The guy came back and told me he was mistaken...its $10. Still, more than the wine I bought  (but from fermented grapes...so it HAS to be good, right? right? :P )

Anyway, that will prob be the last time I bring wine there. its a shame b.c that was a huge draw for us. -
holy cow! i was thinking it would be more like $5.....
and their wine isn't so great.
poo.
but thanks for the report. -
$10 really isn't bad for a corkage fee. I know it's more than free but if you buy a bottle for $10 and spend $10 on the corkage you still only pay $20 for a bottle of wine to drink with dinner at a restaurant. That's pretty hard to find in NYC and if you do find it the wine is usually pretty crappy. It may not be a deal but it's not bad.
If you want to drink anything nicer than that you end up doing really well. A bottle of wine that is $50 in a restaurant would cost around $20 in a store so you end up getting it for $30 total, saving $20. -
i know, i know.
i know that $10 isn't unreasonable. it's just that my budget IS unreasonable. and it was nice to have a place where i could afford a decent meal and a glass of wine without feeling too guilty about how much cheaper it is to eat at home.
