Burning Trash Can — Brooklynian

Burning Trash Can

Did anyone see a burning trash can on Prospect Place between Grand and Classon during the night of Wednesday, August 5?

When I woke up this morning (Thursday) it had been reduced to a melted plastic puddle on the ground.

It may have been an accident or intentional. But it does look as though some kind soul moved the adjoining trash can, to stop the damage from spreading.

  • or it may be related to the firebug we have in the neighborhood.

...there are several threads that discuss a youth who would set dumpsters and trash cans on fire, mostly around Underhill in PH.
  • I see. Thank you.

I just spoke with a neighbor, who saw the fire around 4.30 am.

Apparently, there was a couple outside the building, one of whom was trying to pour water on the fire from a bottle. So thank you, whoever you are.

The fire service put the fire out. They never mentioned the firebug. But they did say it was most likely a discarded cigarette.

I see it fits the firebug's m.o. though.
