Crayfish! — Brooklynian

Crayfish!

Friday, 8/21
6 to 8:30 p.m.
Swedish Fish
You may already have a healthy appreciation for Sweden's namesake meatballs and massage, but now you can partake in Kräftskiva, the country's summer festival dedicated to crayfish at--where else--Ikea. Show up for plates ($10) piled with crayfish and other Swedish delicacies at the Red Hook store (no assembly required). Can't make it on Friday? The blue-and-yellow behemoth will be stocking crayfish for purchase through the end of the month. One Beard St. (at Otsego St.), Brooklyn; 718-246-4532 or ikea.com

  • I don't have high hopes, but by any chance do you know if they carry crayfish stock? I have this lovely recipe for blackened scallops with crayfish sauce, but I can't find the required crayfish stock anywhere. And please don't tell me to buy a bunch of crayfish and make my own because I'm not that industrious.

    Thanks!

"Crayfish are kept as pets in freshwater aquariums....crayfish are fairly shy and may attempt to hide under leaves or rocks. At night, some fish become less energetic and settle to the bottom, making them more vulnerable to crayfish."
  • awww, they're shy! how can you eat something that's bashful?
  • i would deck that decadent decapoda in the mouth
