Junior Girlfriend, Tiny Cat of Power, Needs a Loving Home — Brooklynian

Junior Girlfriend, Tiny Cat of Power, Needs a Loving Home

Junior Girlfriend wandered into our backyard this summer and immediately won us over with her boundless self-confidence, her lovely white and black coat, and her wide yellow-green eyes. Sadly, we can't keep her as our household is already at max-cat capacity, and so we are hoping to find a forever home for this beautiful creature.

Junior is about a year old and negative for FIV and feline leukemia; she's spayed and caught up on shots. No shrinking violet despite her small size, she is smart, sociable, and affectionate - a true kitty of power. Junior will play with any toy or bug and is as curious as the day is long. Unloading the dishwasher? How fascinating! A trip to the basement? Let's go!

Given her friendly disposition and how quickly she acclimated to indoor life, Junior pretty clearly was once a household cat who somehow got separated from her human. These things happen. Thankfully, life on the streets did not diminish her spark, but she really needs and wants and deserves a safe and loving home. Junior loves attention and affection but will occasionally nip or scratch when overstimulated (she is a cat, after all), so she'll do best with a nurturer who knows cats and perhaps in a home without small children. She clearly wants to rule the roost, so she should probably be an only cat in her new home.

If you'd like to meet Junior Girlfriend or have questions about her, please call 718-858-8510.

If you're able to foster Junior Girlfriend, that would be an enormous help

  • Jr. is adorable. While she's in the fridge, can she get me a beer?

  • Junior Girlfriend has discovered a new hobby: hunting dead leaves. Darting out to the backyard, she retrieves a single leaf -- typically oblong and with a long stem, so sort of mouse-shaped -- and then returns through the window, leaf in mouth. She deposits her lifeless prey on the floor and gives a primal Mew! She seems to bring in about a dozen a day. No leaf is too large or too crunchy to deter this wily huntress. It's better than an actual mouse, which she has also delivered to us. Poor mouse!

  • On Friday, we delivered Jr. Girlfriend to her new home in the south Slope, and from what we hear, she is already queen of her new domain. Her new owner is already Tweeting about her.

Though it's still possible, I suppose, for something to go awry and for her new owners to return her, I'll go out on a limb and say the secret to placing Junior Girlfriend -- more, perhaps, than her super-sweet disposition, which became apparent when our incumbent cats took a week's vacation in Jersey -- was her unusual name. Everyone who responded to the Craigslist ad mentioned, and the folks who ended up taking her told us that's what got her attention. "Do you know how many cats named Cleo there are out there?" the woman said? I don't, but I get the point.

Anyway, moderator, feel free to de-stickify this post, and thanks.
