  • Thanks... I was just wondering about the line-up. Here's a link to the schedule page:

  • I'll be working the gate from time to time. And making sure no one sneaks in any glass bottles.

were they "free" last year? cause the "suggested donation" sure sounded more like "its $3 to get into the gate" last year. maybe that was the vip area or something, i dont remember.

not that it matters, as im not broke this summer, but it was a bummer then.
  • All of the Celebrate Brooklyn performances are free (and always have been) the "keep it great give $3 at the gate" slogan is to encourage donations from audience members but it is NOT an admission fee. Many, many people go the performances for free each summer. If you want reserved seats you have to become a member of Celebrate Brooklyn. Memberships start at $50.
  • ooh wee! my ben folds tickets just arrived in the mail the other day. so excited!

wasn't curtis mayfield playing celebrate brooklyn when that freak thunderstorm knocked a light onto him?

If I remember correctly, that was Wingate Park(?Or is it Field?) where they do concerts on Monday nights in the summer.

So what are the rules - is it OK to bring in outside drinks as long as you put them in plastic containers?

And who's not paying $3? Come on, we're talking about $3 here.
  • Yes, outside drinks in plastic containers are just fine. Note: arguing that you just dropped $50 on a bottle of wine specifically for the event does not gain you brownie points, it only breeds anger and resentment.
  • What about cans o beer?

heh. i was whining about that cause i had a bad flashback of when i first moved to PH, and had to shell out $6700+ to get into my place... thusly leaving me too broke to even pop for 3 bux. sad, but true. i was buying beer with nickels and dimes, yo. hahahaha.

a year later and the palce still r00lz. and i can spare three ones! yay brooklyn!

we should all get together and have a picnic or something before one of these shows.
  • No, the concert where Curtis Mayfield was injured was at Wingate and was not part of Celebrate Brooklyn.
  • You can't bring alchohol in period, they sell beer there. Also, no bikes and no pets.

thats why god created dark-colored nalgene bottles... yay 32 oz of portable public beer!

also: bikes are of course allowed in the park. you jsut cant take em into the small fenced-off seating environs. im not sure why youd want to anyway, but rest assured that there is plenty of iron fencing nearby to lock up to.
  • Yep there are plenty of places to lock up bikes, for some reason though people often argue to try to get their bikes inside the fence.
