site for very small wedding ceremony (25-50 people) — Brooklynian

site for very small wedding ceremony (25-50 people)

Any ideas of a local place, perhaps a synagogue, for a very small wedding ceremony? Max 50 people, but we are hoping more like 25. We just want a place for the ceremony, because the guests will meet afterward for dinner at a restaurant, so no need for catering, etc, and a restaurant will not work, because we have guests that keep strict kosher. Similarly, a church would not be appropriate, but a synagogue would be nice.

Oh, and also, need I mention that price is an issue!!

Thanks for any ideas!

$350 for up to 50 people, and the venue is nice, though unconventional.
  • unconventional is great and the price is awesome! But the wedding can't be until November. Don't you think it would be too cold?

  • or the Tobacco Warehouse under the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Boathouse in Prospect Park...
  • I would suggest checking with the Brooklyn Historical Society in Brooklyn Heights. They have some beautiful rooms inside.
  • oh yes! i've heard great things about them!
  • 25-50 is "very small"? I kept it to 4 people (0 guests).

Yeah, same for Mrs. C and me. It was the two of us, the judge, and our witness (my brother). Best. Wedding. Ever!
  • Well she is certainly unconventional, but I am surprised Mrs. C was down for that!

having just watched a recent episode of Bridezillas, I can totally see the appeal of just doing it w/o the hype

Isn't the "best wedding/reception ever" when everyone gets shit-faced and dances their asses off?

  • Oh yes, there's nothing like high heels, too much champagne and the Electric Slide! Or in one case, one of many Scottish folk dances.
