Zipcar Etiquette

Carmen,
Yes, that is the argument my wife makes. The lazy part, which is huge. Good point. -

you seem to have missed the "ok I'm supe lazy" part
Hourly starting in the $10 per range for the smaller vehicles. Larger or more desirable vehicles are in the $16-20-ish region. Breaks available for use at off hours. Daily rates available, too, usually in the neighborhood of 4 or 5 x the hourly. -
Carmen, I think they are best for short local stuff. For a weekend trip, you're probably better off with a regular rental.
If you just want to go run errands near home (Fairway+Ikea+Lowes is a good one), it's perfect. It's a lot harder to get a car on a weekend at the last minute, but if you want one on a weekday, you can usually find something near home almost anytime.
I like to try to plan in advance so I can get the same car every time. You can cancel them with no penalty as long as you do it by the rules (it's something like up to 3 hours before the reservation you can cancel for short ones, 8 or 24 hrs for longer one). By always using the same car, you get used to what condition it's in and what dings are worth reporting. -

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
It means what the company means (check the website- they never say "rent"- they always say "share") which became my philosophy when I worked there. People don't really get it, though....not my problem anymore, thank God. -
^^^ Dah!!! Where's DoubleDiamond when you need her?!

I think for local quick trips, it generally works out to be cheaper to get a cab than to take zipcar. Arecibo has a number of minivans and SUVs that you can get if you have a bunch of stuff to haul. And if you're going to Home Depot or something, there are always a bunch of guys with vans that will haul you and your stuff home for a nominal fee. For Ikea or longer trips, rent a car.
