Booklaw,
I'm old fashioned that way. I strive to be courteous, gentlemanly, and not impose upon others. One other thing - I try not to make unwarranted assumptions about people of whom I know nothing. To do otherwise would mark one as a prejudgmental microcephaloid, don't you think? That you annoy me makes me wonder, where is the benefit in you? Best,

On a related note, the scrabble value of the above post is simply mind-boggling.

Stray cats can't fend for themselves in this city- it's kill or be killed. Stray people however, can. Maybe I am a little unsympathetic to PTSD or other mental illnesses that prevent people from working....but it seems to me that if you have the where with all to stand on a street corner and beg, then you can do SOMETHING productive other than beg for habit support. The mentally ill usually aren't begging because they're rarely in their right mind to pay attention to their well-being. -

If someone's performing music in the subway, you're free to give or not give them money. If enough people like them and give them money, they'll keep playing. If most people don't give them money, they'll go somewhere else.
I do not care for subway music. Music should never be imposed on captive audiences - or at least that is the White House's current stance on torture, the benefit to buskers notwithstanding. (See, how that relates to Winged Earth's post?)
Carrying your bags, well, James, that is also repugnant to me, though a benefit to you. (That's how it relates to your post.)
So, it is a comment apropos of both your and Winged Earth's posts. I'm sure that it will apply to other posts, as well, so don't be surprised by further reprise.
Hope this helps you to understand.
If you need assistance in understanding anything else, don't hesitate to ask.
As for the carrying bags for other people, you may consider it "repugnant," but people asking for money from strangers should be willing to earn it. But the fact that they're not willing to earn it is a good reason not to give them any money to begin with. -
You paraphrase out of context - I only said I didn't want to carry James' bags - I have done my fair share of schlepping for miserly recompense, thank you very mucho.
Howdy, Stranger!
