Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy information — Brooklynian

Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy information

Hey guys, I'm a Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy resident (Bedford and Myrtle Aves) and I use this site and its forums all the time to update myself on what's going on in the neighborhood, places that have opened, crime going on, whatever. I am writing a community survey paper for school, and I'm almost finished, but there are a few points that I wasn't really able to find. I've been trying the NYC sites and yellow pages and other Google-generated results but I suck at this kind of research, and thought this would be a good place to ask. Hopefully someone can help me out, or provide websites where I can find the info. Thanks.

1) Where is the fire department located for this area, and what is its number? The paper I was given asks for a number, which I'm assuming is similar in concept to the way police precincts are numbered. (For some reason I am having a particularly hard time finding information about the fire department in this area)

2) Where is the EMS (emergency medical services) in this area, and the number? There is another section that asks about hospitals, and I will use that information for the EMS information if I have to, but because it asked for the number again, I'm kind of assuming it's its own thing, again, like the police precincts.

3) Where is the nearest public health facility? (I found something about community district 303 but if someone could clarify)

So that's it. Thanks so much to any of you who might happen to know any of these things.

  • go here: http://gis.nyc.gov/doitt/nycitymap/

enter the two street intersections (and extension, i.e. Avenue)

once it finds the intersection, click "show additional information" on the right and you'll get a drop-down menu on the right hand side that will let you find each of those pieces of information (and lots more)
  • Just a hint, when using that map, make sure you search for "Fire House" and "Police Precinct House" and not "FDNY Service Center" or "NYPD Service Center". The latter will give you the FDNY emergency command station and the tow pound instead of the info you want.
  • That is so helpful! Thanks (and I'm not even writing a term paper).
  • You're at Bedford and Myrtle? Well the fire station is on Bedford between Myrtle and Park. You should get out more. No offense, I just really think you should know what exists on your block, and maybe the few blocks around it too.
  • Whoaaaa squindar thank you so much! And hunter, yes, I agree.
