Montgomery btw. Rogers and Nostrand
Hi everyone,
I currently live in Bushwick, and my girlfriend and I are considering getting an apartment on this block. How is it during the day/night? Any thoughts on the area?
I went by there during the day - talked to some old guys on the corner as well as some shop owners. They told me it is a quiet block. A few days later, I learned that someone was shot and killed on the corner of Rogers and Montgomery prior to my visit.
I worry more for my girlfriend than myself. I am African, so I know that I blend in with the West Indians. But, my girlfriend is Asian (Filipino).

I'm afraid you have more of a chance of getting hurt than her. Crime stats show that most of the victims are black males, and the assailants are also black males. (Quick where is that police map that shows the incidents and the breakdown!)
Another generality is that people who get shot know their assailant.
So its pretty safe. Say hello to everyone and you're in pretty good company. -
Haha Thank you, Tsarina. I noticed that trend of most victims being black males while their assailants were also black male when I looked at the New York Times Homicide Map.

I will be sure to say hello to everyone. -

I wonder when we'll have access to a real time crime map. -
Yeah, I was trying to look for a real time crime map, but one has not fallen into my lap yet.
Howdy, Stranger!
