INTRODUCING...THE AMAZING RABBIT!!!!!!!

Meet the wonderful kitty who has been living on our block this summer:

http://s684.photobucket.com/albums/vv210/renopithicus/

She’s very sweet and really a beautiful cat. I suspect she once had a home because she’s so tame and comfortable with people. She’ll come right up to you and rub against your legs. (In my experience with truly feral cats, they will not do this or even come close.) We’ve been calling her “Rabbit”…not sure how that name came about, but there it is.

We would love to find a true home for this good natured cat. She has been “fixed”, so you don’t have to worry about her having kittens. If you are willing to take her in, we will also pay for her to visit a vet, get all the shots she should have, etc. When you bring her home, she’ll be all set! All we ask is that, if you adopt her and later find that, for whatever reason, you cannot keep her, please return her to us.

If you’re interested in adding a cat to your household and would like to come meet this one, please (MOD NOTE: removed your phone number) pm Beth. You won’t be sorry. This cat is an angel! We live in Ditmas Park West.

  • She's adorable. Are you sure you can't keep her?

(btw, you may want to remove you phone number and just have people PM you)
  • I wish we could keep her. I really do. However, we already have three cats in our small apartment, including a female calico who is extremely hostile toward other female cats. So, the best we can do is try to find a home for Rabbit. We are putting food out for her and doing whatever we can to make her current life more comfortable. Still, it's not like having a real home.

The feral cat problem in our neighborhood is heartbreaking. There are lots of cats I'd like to place in homes, but Rabbit is exceptionally "adoptable" because of her comfort level with people.

Anyone who is interested in seeing Rabbit can just PM me. Thanks!
  • Alas, no one has come to visit Rabbit since my original post. If anyone is interested, please contact me. She a very sweet cat. I would love for her to find a home before winter comes.
  • Please update on this post so we know if we can un-sticky. Have you tried all the foster and adoption options? On the Sticky of this Pets Board I have my reference list:

But there are many more! Keep at it, update your craigslist posting, send fliers to you pet stores. Good luck!
  • Still no takers. We have purchased a small shelter for her and put lots of warm bedding in it to help keep her warm now that the cold weather has hit. She is using the shelter. We still hope that someone will come along to take her in, though I guess that becomes less likely to happen as time goes on. Please let me know if you would like to meet Rabbit. She really is an angel.
  • Has anyone here noticed a tabby with marble markings? He was a rescue from the Bronx and was altered and put in a foster home in the Ditmas Park area but was let out of the apartment by the super. I am very worried about this cat, he lived a horrible life on the streets of the Bronx out in the cold, and now he is in the same situation in Brooklyn. He may have taken up with the ferals of Ditmas Park. He was lost in the area of Beverly Rd and East 16 street but could have traveled. Please if anyone has seen this cat please message me. Brownish, grey cat with black marble swirls on body, not ear tipped but he is neutered. thank you
