What are your thoughts on:

Lulei
Buttercup Pawtisserie
Fresh Fields
Body Essentials

??

I like Lulei but can't imagine doing great business here. I have a dog, so obviously I've visited the Pawtisserie but it doesn't really have so much stuff that is not easily obtainable in a pet store. Fresh Fields I think is just awful. I just even understand why it's there or how they make any money. Body Essentials is ok - nice people.

  • I really like the new deli across from Lobo.
    Fresh Fields, I just don't understand. But I have not had pastries there, so maybe that's the thing...
    The Key Food further down on Fifth Ave or Union Market on Sixth are much better, or Biercraft if you want quality v.expensive cheese.

    I LOVE SIP wine, also further down Fifth Ave closer to Flatbush.
    Thank you to whoever posted about it on this board. . .

    Sip is indeed great. I really doubt that Fresh Fields is going to survive. It has so much competition from Bierkraft and Union Market.
  • Subject: Sip

    Sip is great because the owner actually knows wine and is very down to earth. His selection is unique and most of the wines are unavailable at other stores. He has turned me on to many wines I was unaware of before.
  • buttercup's pawtisserie has some items most other pet shops don't carry
    like dried fish skins{good source of omega 3+6}
    and rabbit ear chews{coat them in peanut butter, makes a good crunchy sound}
    and odorless bull penis'{if you have to ask, you don't wanna know}

    and of course the home baked biscuits themselves
    which are a bit overpriced, but what the hey!

    i love sip wine!
    trying to wean myself off red white + bubbly and steer more
    business their way -- the owner is quite nice and knows his shait
  • I haven't been to any of these places. Are they all on Fifth Avenue?

    I think I need to leave my house more often.

    all these new businesses

    there was a spurt about a year ago
    where all these new businesses opened up
    - like a new one every month on fifth

    bogota bistro -- 5th + ?
    miriam -- 5th + St. Mark's
    locanda peperoncino -- 5th + St. Mark's
    total wine bar -- 5th + St. Mark's
    sip wine -- 5th + St. Mark's
    mule cafe -- 4th + Bergen
    lobo tex-mex -- 5th + Sackett?
    Chocolate Room -- 5th + ?

    it's slowed down but
    it's still growing

    there's also the 'black sheep pub' on fifth + bergen

    i live on 3rd avenue and the neighborhood was dominican/puerto rican
    it's young urban professionals now

    like lightning

    build a Target(c) and they will come
