  • I find most of these posts both for and against cyclists to have some truth. When you use the subway it saves wear and tear on peoples lives. Your chance of killing a child in the street or being involved in a traffic accident is eliminated while on board. You can feel free to take one more drink or a smoke of celebration with friends with little to no chance of you harming anybody else . Lots of cars in Brooklyn are operated by under trained drivers. Still others are piloted by a drunks or people using or have ,used drugs, talking or texting on a phone. Don't forget enjoying music so loud that the driver and the passengers can't hear emergency vehicles. Law enforcement is unphased and disinterested .Many posts on the board show the dangers of walking on our streets and sidewalks even if there are no motor vehicles involved. Presently cyclists are treated as 2nd rate citizens and crimes both intentional and accidental are not given attention by the law. Cyclists may appear to be going one level below the average citizen acting like they are riding/fighting for survival, they are, sorry for what is seen as a lack of civility. Just trying to live.
  • Damn near ran over some guy who came flying down the wrong way of a one way on his bicycle against what would have been a light (the avnue had the green ) while riding with no hands because he was busy text messaging.

    sheer genius !

note this isnt the same thing as rolling to a stop at a light and then cycling thru.
i do that all the time on my bike too.
of course if i did it while in my car it would be ticket time period..

So then taking a walk with my wife
I reached out to point at something across the street.
Accidentally smacked cyclist in the side of the face,
i was on the sidewalk and had no idea he was zooming up behind me.

i then stepped out in to the street and damn near got hit by a bus.

I kinda think i should look before crossing rather then blame the bus.
