Fulton Flea Week 4 - Sunday October 11 at 650 Fulton Street
The Fulton Flea will resume on Sunday October 11th from 10 AM to 6 PM in the parking lots of Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center at 650 Fulton Street between Fort Greene Place and South Elliott Place. We will be using both parking lots - the one next to Frank's Lounge as well as the one underneath the overhang adjacent to Fort Greene Place. You are invited to come on over and be part of the scene!
Last week - despite heavy rains - we had an amazing Fort Greene NYC experience. Some highlights:
Starrkeema, a waitress at Frank's Lounge on weekend evenings and a fashion placement specialist during weekdays, brought her special Vintage clothes collection for sale and display -- and within 15 minutes of set-up amidst lots of falling water - she made 6 sales! Aided by her big smile and fueled by such positive support, she had a tremendous first day and has vowed to return on Sunday October 11th (this writer was also so encouraged that he went home and brought out his father's old leather jacket that sat all of last Fall and Winter in the closet -- and Starr sold it to a lucky customer for $35! Dad couldn't believe there was still "value" to his old coat...and was so enthused he must have gained 5 years based on his new-found connection to Fort Greene's belief that Vintage is good stuff- pretty encouraging for an octagenarian!)
Michael Allen, a mainstay of the Fulton Flea, brought his signature cannelais desserts once again (this is an amazing culinary experience dating tback to the 17th century - kind of like a caramel creme brulee and flan combined - simply the most distinguished dessert that Fort Greene offers - you have to come just for a taste - and at $2.25 it is a steal!) - and even before he arrived there was a wondeful woman named Franny who had been at the Fulton Flea the week prior and had bought one of these cannelais specials then - and she was waiting for him with an order for a dozen to bring to her niece for an afternoon tea party! Michael Allen sold out on this rainy day, thank you Fort Greene, thanks Michael Allen!!!
Michael Allen will also be back on Sunday October 11th!
And lastly - for now - there was Tyler and Leo walking their "dogs" on their respective leashes...except that some people weren't sure if the "dogs" were the "invisible" type... Well, you kind of had to be there. It was quite an experience - especially to watch those who were petting the "dogs"!
(Visit our website at www.fultonflea.com and look at the image on the Vendor Terms and Conditions page, you'll "see" what we mean!).
We are continuing to promote our double bottom line -- to build community and to build business opportunity. We invite you to join us.
Vendors and Shoppers and Musicians and Other Talent and Ideas are welcome. Share your gifts. Let's find "park" in the parking lot! Let's meet and greet each other, and engage in building our social capital.
We can make Fulton Street a true "Main Street" for our neighborhood, and make the commercial hub an inclusionary Commons experience.
