Fort Greene Park Halloween Festival — Brooklynian

Fort Greene Park Halloween Festival

This year marks the tenth anniversary of this popular neighborhood event for kids of all ages and their dogs.

On Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 12 noon – 3:00 pm, the Fort Greene Park Conservancy presents the 10th annual free Halloween Festival in Brooklyn's historic Fort Greene Park. Children will be treated to hay rides, games, sack races, face painting, stilt-walkers, entertainers and free pumpkins to decorate – along with a spooky cemetery and kids’ costume parade. And it’s all free.

The festival kicks off at 12 noon with a fun costume contest for dogs and their owners, “The Great PUPkin,” sponsored by Fort Greene PUPS, the local dog-owners organization.

The Halloween festival is organized and produced by members of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy, a not-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to the restoration and upkeep of historic Fort Greene Park, with support from Partnerships for Parks - a joint project of the New York City Department of Parks and City Parks Foundation -- and from many generous local businesses and individuals.
