Obnoxious Car Alarm
Living in New York, we're used to car alarms going off at all hours and, in Fort Greene, we have more than our fair share of fire trucks and other emergency vehicle sirens. However, a new addition to the neighborhood is taking noise pollution to a new level.
Over the past few months, a red Dodge SUV with license EBB 2449 (Kingsborough CC parking badge on rearview mirror) has shown up. The over-sensitive alarm is one thing, but the short, 2-second "tweet" alarm that goes off over 50 times a day is too much. If it's been parked outside your apartment for a day or a weekend, I'm sure you know about it.
The last time I saw the truck, the windshield was covered by notes from residents asking the person to fix this, but they have been ignored. If you know this person, please ask them to think about their neighbors and fix their alarm as the neighbors are getting riled.

I still haven't figured out why people still use audible alarms. They're the least effective at detering theft. I think they should be banned. -
Someone just told me that the NYPD will break in to the car and clip the alarm - some noise law was adopted. Those things are just brutal on residents, and I agree they should be banned. I *just* talked to some person having trouble with their alarm, who shrugged it off with "it is what it is."
Wrong attitude. Call the cops. -
thing is, its really easy to fix if they would just go to an auto alarm installation place. The setting has to be adjusted.
