No, it's usually anonymous trolls who yell about freedom of speech the loudest.

Stop Looking for Anti Semitism at every corner “you fucking Jew.†(quoting cartment from south park)
Did I say I was Jewish? and IMO you are clearly a racist as your 1st and subsequent posts show -
But to make it clearer to everyone, let me give an hypothetical example. "I get nervous when my wife walks down the street at night because a bunch of black guys hang out in front of the building"
It should be clear to most that the term "black" is only descriptive if you draw some relationship between safety and black people.
Just as you used the term hasidic Jew b/c you draw some relationship between wanting $ and Jewish people.
BTW I dont expect you to acknowledge or even understand b/c clearly you are also a fvcking moron -
Subject: thx rose, and to others... wow.
Hi Rose,
You know what you are right! that is a really good point but my l.l. didn't want to mess with anything that might lower the amount he got. it became sort of a 'pride' thing. When the first buyers fell out and the second bidders bid $75,000 less, you would have thought the world came to an end. (on 1.7 million!) I actually had a realtor friend tell me that he could have done what you suggested (so maybe it's not that out of the norm but definitely not the norm), he could have offered me a longer lease and the people would have to buy with me in it for a certain amt of time at a certain rent. He got advice from a realtor (not to) and he did every single thing that worked out best for him. On the one hand, why not? On the other hand...
So I guess I would say it works from both sides...
***********
To others on this board... I can't believe continually how snobby people on this board are. geez... talk about sounding so privileged to live in Park Slope. I agree with original poster that it is sort of embarassing to live here (not because of your posts but sort of ... now). it's just too precious now. maybe new people (and old) don't want to hear that or need to feel they live in the ultimate place for self esteem or I don't know what... but this attitude and nastiness, instead of compassion about someone being displaced out of their home town, has got to go, in my opinion.
It's such a zero tolerance attitude. I guess Guiliani, Bush, Bloomberg, et al. have really had a lasting and deep seeded influence.
wow.

But is it really just the buyer's fault? What if the seller agreed to take a bit less in exchange for keeping the existing tenant in place at below-market rent for some period of time? Does that ever happen? I doubt it. Who has more of an obligation to the tenant? The new buyer, who is a stranger to the tenant and most likely will be struggling to make the mortgage payments even while charging market-rate rent, or the seller, who bought the place for $50,000 back in the day and is now selling it for $2,000,000?
if the person who buys my building can't afford his mortgage and needs to rent the place out for an insane amount of money thus displacing me... to rent it out for twice as much as corporate housing because he can't afford it otherwise... well should he even be buying it? -

I'm not sure that you are anti semitic but, you are at the very least, insensitive, and uneducated to the issue. Israel didn't steal that anything, the land was part of the British Mandate, and the Ottoman Empire. I believe Jordan was also carved out of that area as well. The Palestinian people deserve better than they have, but they very much have themselves, Jordan, Syria and in particular Arafat to blame, as much if not much more so than Israel, or the U.S.
Oh yea, I almost forgot. Isreal did steal that land from Palestine, I dont sdupport isreal in any way shape or form. I think thier all fucked up building a wall, etc. . I guess you want to scream anti Semitism at that comment too, right? -

What's primarily funny is that you couldn't even get the img tags right, and instead of editing your post, you just made another post, which means that the defective one is still there for everyone to see--with the name of the site you hotlinked it from, the unpleasant title of the image file, and all. Truly, you are a genius.

Wow. What's going on in this thread?
Is this, like, one guy posting from multiple IPs?
And why is that image called... what it's called? Line crossing is healthy, but I don't get it. Is there some "internet backstory" that I'm missing? -

He's not anonymous though--just always inflammatory and angry. -

Technically, the wiki entry doesn't specify that the troll must be anonymous:Wikipedia wrote: In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude or offensive messages designed to annoy and antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion

carnivore - it could actually be you ... from Wiki ...
A common tactic that many trolls resort to is the strategy of using multiple usernames or pseudonyms that are ready to use just in case a debate or argument emerges. By using multiple usernames (called "sock puppets" in this context) and a variety of artificial personalities the troll would have the ability to protect his image in a community. -

and that's why the mods can see IP addresses. makes it easy to find sock puppets.

there have been some fine, fine instances of sock puppetry on the board, but I doubt that carnivore is involved with the recent asshattery. I mean, as a sock puppet.

Unlike you I don’t stand there with my hat in my fucking hand waiting for someone to offer me an opportunity or hand out. I really hate being vilified for making six figures as if its so much money in this day and age. The fact is if you really do the math it’s not. In fact people in my income bracket get screwed the worste.
I'm still wondering how someone possessed of such blazing intellect, scintillating charm and consummate mastery of the English language makes over six figures. I must be in the wrong racket. -

Oopsie, that was me, I didn't realize I wasn't logged in (so much for *my* blazing intellect...) -

Life has taught me that mastering English isn't even on the top five list of variables that correlate to earning potential. Math is probably up there, as well as the ability to tolerate idiots as supervisors (that's the skill that pays my bills). The ability to be born into a well connected family is probably number one.
As for charm and intellect, well I think our delightful President makes six figures. If he can make it, anyone can. Then again, he is very skilled at being born into the right family. Without the Bush name, I doubt he could have risen to the status of kitchen manager at Hooters. -
All very true ...

Well he might have gotten the job but then he would have quickly driven the place into bankruptcy within a year. So much for his MBA from Harvard. -
