NEW SOCIAL SERVICE FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION SEEKING PLED

Sigma Theta Rho Fraternity ("STR") is looking for adults, ages 18 and over to join its 2010 Pledge Class. We also have a youth component for students ages 11 to 17.

STR was birthed from The 1City Youth Project, a non-profit organization that provides free activities for youth in grades 4 to 12. Once students aged out of the program, they implored us to come up with something that would keep them connected with us. We challenged them to come up with an idea, they decided on a "fraternity" and STR was born.

Recently incorporated, STR is committed to community service, youth development, social networking and professional development.

Pledges must earn 116 points by May 1, 2010 in order to be "crossed over" into membership. Points are earned by attending business meetings and community service projects and by answering email. That's all!

Planned activities include: (a) mentoring the youth of 1City; (b) mentoring 12 youth in a group home setting; (c) renovating bedrooms for disabled children; (d) tutoring children; (e) planning holiday celebrations for 1City; (f) spending time with seniors; (g) working in food pantries, etc. We also participate in workshops and seminars that deal with homeownership, wealth management, business development and more.

Before you think that it is all work, we also have a strong social component which includes: (a) pool / bowling / movie nights; (b) parties; (c) weekend trips; (d) unlimited basketball and fitness program; (d) spa days; (e) day trips and more.
