Fulton Flea Wk 6 - Hear Jeremiah Lockwood of Sway Machinery
As we stay true to building community and business opportunity, while finding the 'park' in a parking lot... the Fulton Flea presents Jeremiah Lockwood playing acoustic guitar from 1 to 3 PM on Sunday October 25th at 650 Fulton Street in the parking lots of the Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center.
This a free performance and you are invited to listen to Jeremiah's magical melodies while browsing and shopping!
We anticipate good weather, a range of Vendors offering antiques, vintage clothes and goods (we have some special vintage signage to showcase) as well as handcrafted hats, jewelry and other special treats to be discovered (including wonderful desserts by Michael Allen!).
Check us out at www.fultonflea.com or call 917 364 5648 for more info.
Last week we survived the rain and were interviewed by BCAT's Sector B show host Brian, as he explored how the economy has impacted vendors and flea markets. Our answer: it has spurred the development of more Flea markets, and has fostered an opportunity for community economics to get a foothold at the Main Street level. Yes, this is still about a 'market' economy -- but if and as people realign "value with values" - we can see a different capitalism take shape, a community people's capitalism that embraces a creative economy and promotes social capital and real linkages between multiple shared interests. Yes, the bills still need to be paid, and real estate interests / vested property owners still hold sway ... yet the "Commons Market" experience provides some reclaimed potential for inclusionary gains .
So we hope.
