I am a published, award-winning writer with a Master of Fine Arts in writing from Columbia University who has worked in education for nine years. My experience in education includes extensive college and graduate school essay coaching; teaching English literature, composition, and creative writing at the junior high, high school, and college levels; writing English literature and composition curricula for Kaplan K-12 Learning Services; and tutoring in humanities subjects.

As a college essay tutor/editor, I have worked with students applying to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Rice, Notre Dame, Oberlin, Trinity, and the University of Texas, among others. I am highly knowledgeable about the college admissions process; skilled at refining content, structure, style, and grammar; creative, passionate about education, and encouraging. I can help at any point in the process, whether you or your child have already completed an essay draft or are still honing in on a topic. I've helped students who were just beginning the application process to work through the entire application, brainstorm essay topics, and write their essays from beginning to end. I'm great at listening to a student/applicant talk about their studies, activities, and strengths and helping them to hone in on a topic and style that shows off their unique voice and will impress colleges. I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn and can work via email or meet in person to help you or your child produce a vibrant, standout essay. I’ve also edited artist statements for grant applications and press releases for galleries. My rate is $50 per hour. If interested, contact [email protected].
