I've been asked to find the place with the best burger in Park Slope. Any recommendations?

  • I hear Dram Shop has a great burger, but I haven't tried it.

Sidecar and 12th St. B&G both have good burgers.
  • Has anyone tried Corner Burger?
  • I had an excellent burger at Blue Ribbon last week and the burgers at Stone Park are pretty damned good too.
  • Dram, for sure...although I also like Bonnie's
  • Oh, i forgot about Bonnie's. They have delicious burgers
  • I am not a burger eater usually but I did have one at the Dram Shop on 9th Street and thought it was very good - for a burger - - so I'd defiitely go there if I were in the mood for one - my husband thinks highly of their burgers as well - and he rarely has comments about food in general.
  • Bonnie's: Excellent Burgers
    Johnny Mack's: Very Good Burgers
Park Slope Ale House: Very Good Burgers
Melt: Very Good (and its grass-fed, blah blah...)

Corner Burger is hugely disappointing, as is Flipsters.
  • i will tell you the best burger in park slope, hands down...because i just had it last night...!!

lot 2 on 6th avenue between 19th and 20th streets.

grass fed beef burger with cheddar cheese, pickles, potato skins and lardo butter on a toasted bun. it was absolutely FANTASTIC!

and it comes with a brooklyn lager for $15.00.

i just made a separate entry to rave this place, because the food is so darn good. one of the better restaurants in brooklyn, in my opinion. it's an undiscovered gem...
  • Ok, I fully expect to be drawn and quartered, hung, shot, boiled in oil, buried up to my head at the beach at high tide, and covered in honey and stuck in an ant colony (and forever banned from the site) but here goes:
    There's a McDonalds on 9th Street between 5th and 4th.
Yes, I know. I just don't like those big time gourmet places like Corner Burger and Five Guys.
  • I'm a big Bonnie's fan personally.

For anyone looking for late-ish delivery - well, I expect to be drawn and quartered for this, too, but we ordered from Atomic Wings last night and really enjoyed the burgers - both beef and veggie pleased their respective eaters. Rare to get a veggie burger that has char-grilled marks on it. And the seasoned waffle fries were good. I got Corner Burger delivery once and was both alarmed by the price ($12 for burger and fries) and underwhelmed by the quality.
  • Best Overall Burger: Dram Shop
Best Fast Food Style/Chain: Five Guys
    Best Big Juicy Burger: Alchemy
Most Popular, But Not the Best: Bonnie's

Across the way in Prospect Heights you can get a good burger at Soda and Beast, but I suggest avoiding James and Flatbush Farm (in Park Slope technically).
  • RIP, Homage of Crown Heights.
  • Does Dram Shop have a veg burger?
  • Subject: Best Burger

The Bar Toto Burger on 6th Ave and 11th st.
  • Thanks for the feedback. I had wanted to try Corner Burger, but I'm going to pass since no one has said anything good about it. I have had the Dram's burgers and they are excellent, but I want to pick some place I haven't tried recently (should have mentioned that in the original post).

I haven't been the Bonnie's in years, so I'm going to give it a go. I'm somewhat apprehensive since there are a lot of complaints about the service on Menupages.com, but sometimes you have to take a chance.

Wait, Bonnie's has beer, right? That's essential.
  • ^yes, Bonnie's definitely has beer
  • FINE... I'll do it and you can't stop me. I love me a good 5 Guys burger. Delicious and $5.00.

Also, the best burger EVER is at Buttermilk Channel... (not Park Slope, I know, but $6.00 cab ride away is worth it).

  • Does McDonalds count as a burger? Anyway, I think an often overlooked burger is the Grand Canyon diner on 7th. They actually make a pretty mean one there. Other than that, the best burgers are the ones I make myself - with meat from Union Market and my cast iron pan. Get a potato bun, pickle, cheese, grill it up medium rare and voila. Also big fan of five guys but they are sometimes inconsistent.
  • Mpmav, which car service charges you $6 from here to Carroll Gardens please?
  • well, it was $6 tonight to go from the smith/9th stop to Brookvin when we realized that smith/9th was closed....
  • bonnie's, sit at the counter.

    love the spiced angus burger

the turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and jalepenos is special as well.
  • I'm in the minority, but I don't think Bonnie's is all that good. I want to like the place, but I think Stone Park has a better burger (haven't been to Dram), and that Press 195 has better wings.
  • Nobody has said anything about the burgers at 200 5th. Are they any good?
  • Best burger in Brooklyn - Skinflints in Bay Ridge. Better than Drams (in my book). Canyon used to be good - haven't been in a LONG time. But need to remember the place that had the crispy sweet potato fries with the maple syrup based dipping sauce. Anybody?
  • i dont like bonnies, the spices get burned on the burger, or they char it too much, too much carbon for my tastes. blue ribbon is good, but nothing too special. same for dram shop, and the fires are meh. 5 guys is my go-to burger, i think. custom made.
  • I agree, Bonnie's doesn't do it for me. That spice blend burger just tastes of char and was overcooked when I had it.

I've had the burger at Melt once, the 'Kobe', but was underwhelmed. I don't get the draw of a 'kobe' burger, made with wagyu anyway. Save that tender meat for a steak, it doesn't belong in a burger.

Have to put in one more good word for Alchemy. After finding some of their food underwhelming, the burger was a huge success. It was cooked medium-rare and topped with some caramelized shallots on a soft onion bun.
  • I have had a whole lot of burgers in Park Slope including, as of Saturday night, my first Dram Shop burger.

The best burger in the Slope is at Bussaco, and I say that hands down.

The beef is excellent, flavorful, and has a wonderful texture to it. It tastes like a much fancier burger and rivals all those fancy LaFrieda burgers people wet their panties over in Manhattan. I crave very few other burgers in this city. Combine it with one of their Kings County Manhattan, and you have done your soul (but not wasitline) very well.

Bonnie's makes a fine burger, but everything there tastes and smells the same after a while. Dram Shop makes an addictive and tasty as hell gourmet Big Mac, but it's a gourmet Big Mac. Alchemy, Melt, Helios.....all solid burgers that you'll enjoy, but don't rise out of the pack. Blue Ribbon's did little for me, as did my one trip to Corner Burger. Five Guys is a good fast food burger, but one you should have when your only options is a fast food burger and you're not on the west coast.

Jumping over Flatbush for a sec, James also does a fantastic burger that I'd rank second on my list if we count PH. I recently had Beast's burger for the first time in a couple of years, and it wasn't as good as I'd remembered. I feel like they add chorizo or sausage to the mix which, while it reminds me of a Cuban frita, just doesn't make for something that screams out "burger."

so my vote, and it is a strong one, is for Bussaco. they also really need your business as well.
  • Interesting to hear about Bussaco's burger. I've been dissappointed in their food in the past, but I can check it out. I'm no one for fancy pants, super thick burgers, so I may still find Dram Shop as my fave. I found James to be very poor though. Overcooked, it reminded us of a hockey puck, and lacked the juicy, loosely packed grind I look for in a good burger.
  • please try lot 2's burger, jo518. would love to hear your opinion of it.

it was the best burger i've had in years.
