abandoned house on 6th St/PPW?

Does anyone know the story of the building on the corner of 6th Street and Prospect Park West? It appears to be empty, there are cracked windows, it's been totally neglected. Anyone living there? Any info?

  • If you figure out the street #, you can get info from Property Shark

Sorry, it won't tell you if anyone is living there.
  • Here's what I have heard...the guy who owns it hates his family and doesn't want to leave them a nice place. There's a guy who hangs around and takes care of stuff, albeit not well. Recently, there's been some sort of mystery woman spotted there a few times. It's a shame, and really irks me, as it's close to my place. I actually went and cut back some of the trees hanging over the sidewalk.
  • thanks to both of you. seems like such a shame. a total waste of a beautiful building in a prime location.
  • I looked it up on the nyc acris site and I concluded that it was owned by some old person in a nursing home on Long Island. I forget exactly how I came to this conclusion. The guy who goes in and out of there regularly lives on 7th St. between 8th and PPW. He feeds the pigeons on that block and I think he feeds the pigeons from that abandoned house too. I think that pigeons go into the top floor since there used to be an open window. Very weird. Maybe it is haunted.
