No, it means that after 60 days you can tell them that you intend to cancel if it still hasn't been resolved by day 90. -
First time poster, long time reader.
I would like to say THANKS to everyone posting on this board and offering information that BK Gold management refuses to give out.
Sad part is, we can only warn the new tenants for the next BK Gold building built. The reason why this forum is so high in Google results is that we keep mentioning there name over and over.
This is the THIRD time delays has happened. Lalezarian Developers has a bad rep and has to get their act together so future tenants aren't put through the same issues as us. -
Does anyone have their lease with them? I don't think I have mine.
And does anyone know what it means by "up to Oct 15th".
Also, as you know, something IKEA delivers at weird timings and there is nothing we can do about it (they have loaded their truck that way). So for what should be done if say IKEA delivers at 8 p.m.? Does that mean we can't getting anything in? -
I received the same email and emailed back and forth with Michaela a couple times. Up to the Oct 15th means that we can start booking our move in times up to that date. Michaela said that as soon as they get their certificate of residency we can start moving in. I emailed the admin email we were given to schedule my move and haven't received a response yet.

very interesting...I'm not sure if law suit would go through since we've signed all documents stating that "90 days" :T
-
I don't think that a lawsuit would go through and I don't think it will be necessary. We will be able to move into the building, it just depends on when. I think that we all need to work together to see what kind of compensation we can get for the difficult situation that they're putting us in. Like money off of our rent or free storage. Has anyone approached Michaela or someone about this?

But seriously, I foresee a clusterjam with everyone trying to move in at once. Lets see how they deal with this one. -
Sad part is that if they weren't greedy and instead of telling us to wait a few more days because "approval is imminent", instead give us the option to extend it by a month so we can better prepare a short term living situation. I'm sure a majority of the people wouldn't be THAT mad.
I think a hand written apology letter from the owner (not the leasing office) under my door would be nice. Not because I want an apology but more rather have him suffer signing each and every one of them. -

Exactly. It's completely impossible to just have everything ready to go and move in within 2 hours, especially if we can't have anything shipped or delivered due to the lack of a firm move-in date. I hope everyone can just do their best to be polite and understanding of one another. -
I got caught by M right after posting the oct 4th appointment. :P. Good news, rental office does care.
Bad news, I just moved all my stuff in a storage 1mile away from 257 gold street. Going to sleep on my friends' couch from tonight.

There is no debate that the leasing office DOES care, they do. Michaela has been loosing sleep over this whole mess, again we can't kill the messenger here, she has no control over any of this, she is merely doing her job. Honestly though, after the 277 snafus, this should have been expected and planned for accordingly. It's poor planning on everyone's fault at BKLYN GOLD for this to happen again, and I know she's just relaying information that her superiors tell her, but some candor in this process would be greatly appreciated. For them to say that this isn't "their" fault, it's the DOB's is bull, in this industry contingencies need to be made if problems like this arise, and none were made, even after it happened before at 277. I don't care how "imminent" they say the TCO is or what "meetings" are when, actions speak louder than words, and until I get keys to my apartment, Im gunna keep relaying this to every media outlet I can. This is poor planning on the property owners fault, and I still honestly believe that it's our first months rents payments that are the only thing keeping the project from going belly up. I hope I am wrong, but I'm not gunna shut my mouth until I'm sleeping soundly on the 10th floor.

Has anyone been able to schedule a time to move in yet?
-
Drove by the building today and it was still a construction zone! Damn! Not looking good!

-
I wouldn't be too concerned about that. They are completing another building to go up in the complex so construction will be going on even after we eventually move in.
-
Oh wow now that's fun!
-
...I will also say that I think place is going to be great once we're allowed inside. I really had my doubts before I visited, but to those who summarily dumped it because of the strange location or faults of management I wish you luck finding a better deal with better amenities one or two stops away from Manhattan and from a rainbow of subway lines.
I know it's NY and we're not supposed to know our neighbors, but I took the liberty of creating a FB group because I couldn't find one and in this day and age, well, it just had to be done. 277 Gold has one and now 257 Gold has one, too.
Let's keep all this pre and perhaps post move anonymous angst over here and once we're moved in discuss tenant stuff over there. Being a (freelance) event planner I'll organize something in a few weeks and use that gift card to start a tab at the nearest bar (j/k).
I completely agree with NoSleepTill. Regardless of the whole mess, we have to remember why we chose BKLYN Gold in the first place. Once the place is done, it will be beautiful and I'm sure we'll enjoy living there. -
Subject: Re: livinginstorage's comment
I was shocked at the reactions because I thought it was pure sarcasm and it made me laugh.
The whole situation is ridiculous and I can't get over the laws of ny allow this. I posed this question before and am still curious about the answer so he goes...
" If you could break the lease and walk away with your money today, would you? "
( I would... And tried ) -
can any one verify or theorize the feasibility of us moving in by Mid-October?
I feels like the usual string along, just with a new twist.
Has anyone successfully scheduled their time with the freight elevator? -
I just got a call from Tanya Hill at the Brooklyn Borough president's office. It wasn't good news. It seems that Brooklyn Gold failed their latest Temporary C of O inspection and they now have to make more changes. Hence Michaela's email about changing your move date to the week of the 15th. But, it's good news if it was a construction zone because that hopefully means they are really on it. I was actually worried that they ran out of money but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I really feel for those of you who have been couch surfing. I ended up extending me lease and so I am ok but I hope the rest of you can hang in there. I do think once we get in it will be great. WE should definitely plan a party somewhere! And we need to promote Marty's office (and do something nice for Tanya) as they have been just incredible with the follow up.
I hope all of us can relax a little this weekend. We deserve it! -
Subject: Update
Here is the response i received today from T. Hill:
Please be advised that our office has also been in contact with the Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Consumer Affairs regarding the problems prospective tenants are encountering with Brooklyn Gold Management. Both agencies indicated that they have no jurisdiction over this matter. As of Wednesday, September 29th, I was informed by the Department of Buildings that the Temporary C of O was denied because there are still objections that must be cured by Brooklyn Gold’s developers.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the number below.
Thank you for contacting the Brooklyn Borough President’s office.
Sincerely,
Tonya Hill -

Yeah, based on what's left on the B-Scan list, there are a few open items that, IMO, stick out as necessary for a TCO. They still need their temp electrical sign off, standpipe and sprinkler sign off, as well as the elevator sign off before they get a TCO. I am not sure if they need their fire protection plan sign off, I think 277 didn't have it when they received their first TCO. You can also find a list of open objections here, but not all need to be rectified prior to a TCO. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/OutstandingObjectionsServlet?requestid=4&passjobnumber=302340081&allbin=3335886. All of those items can be waved, but from my understanding, the Deputy Brooklyn Borough Commissioner is involved in the project. His name is John Gallagher, and in our office we call him "John The Hammer", because he smashes hope and dreams, he's a hard ass, so I doubt he is going to be waving any of those important inspections and sign offs. Hopefully the meeting on OCT 4th that was mentioned is another site inspection at the building, and with any luck the objections have been cleared, sign offs provided and a TCO will follow. Fingers crossed. -
WOW this is a lot of information. My move-in date is confirmed for Oct. 9th.
**Crossing fingers for Oct4th!!** -
I'm kind of glad John the Hammer is a hard ass. I want to move in, but I don't want the elevator to snap off and crash or anything like that. Here's hoping for a great October 4th!
-
bumble, how is your move in date confirmed?
-
She emailed me that it is confirmed.

I've been worried about this too, since my furniture is also going to be delivered from a place that probably won't give me a specific time for delivery in advance. To make matters worse, they don't even deliver on Sunday or Monday (my current lease starts on a Sunday).
I sent an email to the BK Gold admin asking if I could move non-furniture items in on the start then schedule a time to have furniture delivered later. The admin hasn't responded yet, so I really have no idea how I'm going to handle the situation.
Like Rsquared, I'll probably just go with not giving a damn and having stuff delivered no matter what :-) -
I'm pretty sure it would be fine. IF they have good customer services, they should work things out with their clients. Hopefully.
or maybe we can all protest in front of the building LOL -

That's how I feel, after all this customer service should definitely be their priority. However, something tells me that in reality it will be quite low on their list...

I think she meant it's tentatively confirmed... My lease doesn't start till November 1st, and here's the "confirmation" email I got about my move-in date on Wednesday:
"You are tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 1 from 11:00AM to
12:30PM. Although we are confident with the progress, this message is a
reminder that this confirmation does not guaranty you this date as a final
move-in date until we receive final approvals from the Department of
Buildings. You will receive updates as soon as we are given definitive
status."
