OMG. I watched it and cried very hard

It nearly ruined my Saturday night. I was supposed to go clubbing after that. I did manage to go clubbing, but it was hard after watching Precious. I hope Monique gets an academy for her performance.

It's based on the book by Sapphire, which I highly recommend. Haven't seen the movie yet, but the book is absolutely soul-shaking. FWIW- it was her debut novel back in 1997. This book will stand the test of time.
