Missing Purse

Someone got into my brownstone and got away with my purse on Tuesday early evening. A wonderful person spotted my phone early morning the next day as well as my handbag (a blue kate spade bag) in the trash on Carroll Street between 6th and 7th Ave. Unfortunately the phone was recovered but the bag and its contents disappeared. I have resigned myself to losing my wallet but the purse and some of its other contents is of great sentimental value to me and I would really appreciate it, if anyone has any information about its whereabouts if they could contact me. I also just wanted to let people know about the incident so they can keep an eye out and hopefully prevent this from happening to anyone else. Thanks

The local precinct is SOMETIMES a help when it comes to this stuff.....sometimes people will drop off found things there....worth a shot!

Thanks everyone. I filed a report that night and its considered an open case... The information about the phone and the bag's location though came from a very considerate local park sloper who went to considerable trouble to contact me (to whom I am very grateful). I guess I am holding out hope whoever grabbed the bag off the recycling bin would look inside, see all the personal effects, including my business cards, gloves, a notebook just begun, an antique handkerchief (grandma's) and a shuffle and they would know that it had not been intentionally put out in the trash by its owner.....
