new community art space on franklin ave — Brooklynian

new community art space on franklin ave

I'm trying to open a new community art space on Franklin Ave. Please take a look at the project on the Kickstarter website to learn more about it: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/LaunchPad/launchpad

If you like the idea, please spread the word. If you don't like the idea, thanks anyway.

  • Totally bitchen for sure!!
  • This sounds really cool - thanks for posting about this! I saw the sign on windows the other day and was excited to see that things were actually happening inside too!
  • Subject: Need volunteers?

    Hi,
yes it does sound great. I'm a grad student so there are times I'm busy with research and papers, but I usually have free time during the day and I've been looking for a place to volunteer. I'm a certified art therapist and have worked with domestic violence survivors and women with HIV/AIDS, and would love to give workshops again, but I'm open to general office work, too. Let me know what your needs are and maybe this can work for us.

Also, I've been running a free women's writing group in the area for almost a year. We've bounced around a bit trying to find a location. Abigail Cafe was large and hosted us for a few months, but at night the lights were so dim we could barely read our work, and the music was pretty loud. Also some of the members were uncomfortable because the menu was a bit pricey (for people who are unemployed and for students). We moved to Sit and Wonder on Washington Ave, and they were really great and accommodating (and cheap prices for great food!) but our group was too large. I would love to meet at Breukelen Coffee House (that place is my favorite) but of course, its too small as well. Since it is a free group, maybe we could talk about having our meetings at your space?

Anyway, I've been really eager to find a place to volunteer, I've been checking out not-for profits lately, but your project sounds amazing! You can contact me at [email protected].
