weird, i took it a whole bunch this weekend b/c the 4/5 was all messed up. hhhmmm... :? do they just mean nights including weekend nights?! man...
  • Same crap this weekend (theoretically):
    Q: No trains running
Take the N or shuttle bus instead
    12:01 AM Sat to 5 AM Sun, Apr 22 – May 8 & May 20 - 22
I saw the Shuttle Bus signs getting put up around the 7th Ave. stop. There goes my weekend.

    blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, etc.
  • so if i live at the park place shuttle stop (and i do), and if the 4 and the Q are both out of comission (and the are), anybody got an idea what the fastest (hah!) way is for me to get to grand central on saturday?
  • 2/3 at Eastern Pkway and transfer at Nevins to the 4/5. Or maybe you'll get lucky and the 4/5 will be running on the 2/3 line as is oft the case on the weekend. Or, you don't live that far from the Franklin Av. 4/5 stop at Eastern Pkwy either, really.
  • thanks ana.log, but the trouble is that the 4 isn't running between atlantic and brooklyn bridge this weekend, and the 5 isn't running at all.

(barring, as you point out, the fact that sometimes the trains the MTA says won't run do anyway.)

i can figure out ways to take the 2/3 or the c and transfer at various points; i'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion about what the fastest combination is.

also, i've read the mta site, but i still don't understand what the j train shuttle actually does. can someone explain it? (and could it help me?)

oops, need to work on my reading comprehension. you might try this site ... occasionally it has good suggestions, although i'm not sure it takes into consideration service interruptions...

maybe: 2/3 to atlantic, N, R or W to union square, 4/5/6 to grand central

the J replaces the B but I have no earthly idea what it does and if it's going to be running. :)
  • Simplify, folks. S or walk to either Fulton or Franklin, then take C or 2/3 to Times Square and then Times Square Shuttle to GC.
  • yeah, thanks oneasternpkwy, i just realized that. sometimes i forget that the 2/3 works on the weekends, because it didn't for so long.

and also, sometimes i panic unnecessarily.

    thanks for the chill pill.

good one!! I always forget about that stupid shuttle!
  • I stopped relying on that weekend update from the MTA after it claimed "All trains running on schedule" during the strike.
  • Another weekend w/o the Q.....
