Used office furnature? — Brooklynian

Used office furnature?

mpmav1
edited November -1 in Park Slope
My office (small nonprofit) is looking to replace there office furniture. Anyone know of how businesses sell there furniture when upgrading, downsizing, closing...? Or like NYU?

I know back in Seattle the University of Washington has an auction every 6 months for all there old stuff.

Ideas? And yes, I know of Craigslist.

EDIT: should have mentioned, it's in Downtown Manhattan. So not limited to Park Slope, etc.

  • You won't get any $, but United Way runs a Gifts in Kind Warehouse in LIC.

...or at least they did between 2000 and 2006, when I worked at a non-profit that depended on them for furniture.
  • Are they looking to sell THEIR furniture, or acquire used office furniture from another business (or university) to replace their own?
  • I've had good luck a Dave's on Canal St

I haven't been for a while though but worth checking out. Office Furniture Heaven no longer sells used stuff )-8

This is another interesting listing on Yelp, I have no knowledge of them personally but if you are in the neighborhood

  • Not really sure if you're interested in selling/giving or buying cheap or getting free but if you are a non-profit:

They actually have a lot of furniture.
  • NYC runs a waste less program for nonprofits. All stuff is donated to them by businesses. If you're a nonprofit, you can get it for free. Sometimes they have furniture and a lot of other things. You can sign up for their updates to see what's available:

  • Sorry guys for the confusion. We are looking to buy decent stuff used.

Thanks for all the info so far!
  • The New York market is currently flooded with high quality used office furniture as a result of the downturn in the economy. I tried to sell some used furniture using a liquidator, but they were unable to find a purchaser and we ended up giving it to a church group. PM me and I'll provide the name of the liquidator we used, or google nyc furniture liquidators.
  • bohuma, PM'ed you.

This is all really great info. The NYC Waste Less program seems great... I might try go checking some stuff out.

This is the kind of stuff the David's on Canal St handles
